WAG
Women's Artistic Gymnastics: four apparatus — vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor — under its own Code of Points.
WAG is short for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. Women compete on four apparatus, in Olympic order: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor.
Some of what sets WAG apart under the 2025–2028 Code of Points:
- Composition requirements — four per apparatus, worth 0.50 each — rather than element groups.
- Artistry is judged on beam and floor, and floor is performed to music.
- Beam and floor routines last up to 90 seconds, and their eight counting skills must include at least three dance and three acrobatic elements.
- A dismount bonus of 0.20 for a D-value or harder dismount.
Women’s gymnastics joined the Olympics in 1928 as a team event — Great Britain won bronze — and gained individual all-around and apparatus finals in 1952.
The men’s discipline is MAG.
