Editorial policy

Sourcing

We prioritise current FIG/World Gymnastics codes, British Gymnastics and official UK resources, official Olympic and competition organiser material, peer-reviewed research and reputable books, and, for context only, high-quality journalism. Fan wikis, social posts and unsourced video are never a sole source for technical, biographical or record claims.

When we're not sure

If a claim can't be confirmed against a source we trust, we say so on the page rather than publish our best guess as settled fact. That can mean a page stays narrower than we'd like, names a detail as unconfirmed, or holds back a specific figure until it's checked directly against a primary document. We'd rather a reader see an honest gap than a wrong number.

Review

Claire McDonald is responsible for the editorial decisions on this site. Claire is a sports enthusiast and independent web designer from Scotland, not a gymnastics coach or judge. A qualified technical reviewer has not yet been appointed, so published pages have not been independently reviewed by a gymnastics technical expert. We identify uncertainty where we can and welcome corrections. Once a reviewer is appointed, their name and relevant credentials will be shown on pages they have reviewed. High-risk content (scoring, rules, pathways and competition formats) should be checked at least every six months and at code-cycle changes; medium-risk content annually; settled history and basic definitions every 24 months.

AI use

AI tools are used to help research, draft and fact-check pages, including checking claims against the sources each page cites. Claire McDonald remains accountable for every page. Factual claims, citations and profiles are only published once they have been checked against a cited source; where a claim couldn't be confirmed, the page says so or leaves it out. Because no independent technical reviewer has yet been appointed, this checking has not been repeated by a gymnastics expert.
